Cross-country skiing

A young athlete, Mathis is the hope of cross-country skiing. He joined the Villard de Lans team in 2022 and we’re proud to see him take part in the 2026 Olympics!

With two silver medals already (including the first for the French delegation at these Games), Mathis’ preparation and training are paying off!

“I trained very hard for this race. The skiathlon was a goal that I had been targeting for many months. I was determined to win a medal, an ambition that I had announced and assumed in the months leading up to the Games. Winning this silver medal is immensely satisfying.

Now I can’t wait to look ahead to the next races.

What’s your favourite thing about your sport?

Training in the great outdoors.

What’s your best memory of Villard/Corrençon?

My first laps of the piste on a ski wheel at the Pas de Tirs in Corrençon en Vercors with the Fourcades brothers.

Your favourite spot in Villard/Corrençon?

Without hesitation, the “roche rousse” piste at the Col d’Herbouilly.

How does the coming season look for you?

The season’s looking good, I’ve had no health problems in preparation, now I just have to fine-tune the final adjustments before the snow arrives and I’ll be ready. I’m ambitious for the start of the season because I know that if I do well in the first month of competitions, the season will go well for me.
