Are you interested in climbing and thrills, and not afraid of heights? As soon as the weather’s fine, take up the climbing or Via Ferrata / Via Cordata routes, to scale the magnificent rock faces in the Vercors and enjoy nature in a whole new way. 🧗‍♂️

Climbing

With its limestone terrain, the Vercors is a renowned climbing area.

The many climbing sites offer routes for climbing enthusiasts and new route explorers alike.

Whether you’re on your own or accompanied by a qualified instructor, you can visit beginner climbing sites in the Vercors, such as Vallon de la Fauge, or more experienced sites like Combeauvieux.

Via Ferrata / Cordata

Not sure whether to choose Via Ferrata or Cordata? We’ll explain the difference.

A Via Ferrata is a vertical course on a cliff, with rungs and a continuous cable. You’ll also find more “fun” obstacles such as monkey bridges and zip lines…

The Via Cordata, like the Via Ferrata, is an itinerary on cliffs, but the facilities are less present or more difficult to access. There are no continuous cables, which is why it’s so important to know how to rope up, just as you do when climbing.

How to practice

Climbing

Climbing can be practised from a very young age, as soon as the child starts to climb everywhere.

Climbing equipment is provided by your guide: harness, rope, helmet, etc.

Good to know: you can consult the guidebook at the Villard de Lans office.

For your part, remember to bring
– climbing shoes or trainers for beginners,
– sunglasses
– water

Via Ferrata / Cordata

The Via Ferrata is more accessible to everyone than the Via Cordata.
However, be sure to check the difficulty of the route before you set off, as you won’t be able to turn back.

For the Via Cordata, you need to have some rope skills, as in climbing, to be more comfortable. However, if you’re accompanied by one of our qualified instructors, you’ll be able to complete your outing in complete safety!

To equip yourself, bring
– a good pair of trainers
– comfortable climbing clothes
– sunglasses
