The Vercors: the ideal place for trail running

In 2013, Villard de Lans opened its trail station to offer runners a high-quality welcome. You’re sure to find your way around thanks to the well-marked routes.

As you stride along, nature opens up to you, revealing the magical places it preserves. On the programme: enjoy the views, push yourself and have fun!

Vast plateaux, forest trails, high altitude climbs to peaks and summits, a wide variety of soils… Find the trail to suit your level and your desire to get away from it all!

All on carefully marked trails, the Vercors is made for trail running.

The trail is the perfect recipe for the pleasure of wide open spaces and sport!

– I choose a route suited to my level 🆗

– I check the weather forecast ☀️

– I find out about the condition of my route. If my route is advertised as closed, then I don’t use it, as there is a risk to my safety ✅

– If I’m doing my activity with a dog, I find out about the authorisation and conditions for access with my animal 🦮

– I take the necessary equipment adapted to my activity (gloves, rain gear, sunglasses, sun cream, hat, water, food, spare parts, first aid kit, survival blanket, map, mobile app…) 👟

– I tell my family and friends about my itinerary 📞

– If there is a sudden change in the weather, if the route is too difficult or if I am tired, I know how to give up ☂️

– I close the fences after my walk, to ensure the safety of the livestock and to respect the work of the farmers 🐄

– I don’t feed the animals, I watch them from a distance and don’t try to get any closer 🐎

– I walk around the herds if they are in my path and avoid sudden movements 🐐

– I avoid making too much noise to respect and have the chance to observe the life of wild fauna 🤫

– If I take part in my activity with a dog, I know how to control it and ensure that it does not disturb wildlife, livestock or other users

– I do not pick any flowers or plants and I do not harm any plant species,🌿

– I don’t throw away any rubbish in the countryside, not even food scraps (cores, peelings, cheese rinds, egg shells, etc.). I can do better: I pick it up if I see it on the ground! ♻️
