Our off-piste winter activities

Let’s face it, going on holiday to the mountains in winter is all about enjoying the magic of the snow.

But sometimes the magic doesn’t happen every time and the weather isn’t as generous as we’d like. Despite our best snow dances, there’s not much we can do about it… The watchword: adapt and enjoy the mountains in a different way!

Villard/Corrençon is a truly multi-activity destination. So here are our 5 tips to ensure you have a packed holiday!

Enjoy the fresh air

When you’re on holiday in the mountains, the greatest joy is being able to enjoy the great outdoors.

That’s why we recommend our best-selling outdoor activities: hiking, trail running and orienteering!

Where I come from, hiking is sacred. Many snowshoe routes are accessible with little or no snow! If you’re feeling more sporty, you can pick up the pace in short (or even long) strides on ourtrail routes. What’s more, some routes are now snow trails, which means they’re accessible even with snow 😉

And finally, for the more adventurous (and those who dream of maps and compasses), there’s orienteering. For all levels and all ages, with beautiful scenery and games!

Work on your balance and style

Looking for more skating and a better feeling for the glide? Want to improve your skating technique and balance? Don’t worry, we’ve got the solution: the ice rink!

Lace up your skates? Check! Gloves on? Check! Helmet on? Check! For your first steps on the ice, you can hold on to the railings for a few metres, pay attention to the direction of rotation of the skaters and, above all, keep your legs flexible!

If you’re not so confident on the ice, you can take a seat in the stands and enjoy the show: skating galas or hockey matches, the choice is yours!
Little tip: remember to dress warmly 😉

Keep your calves warm

To keep your legs moving, saddle up! With over 18 mountain bike routes, Villard-Corrençon is a cycling destination in its own right. Faster than on foot, in just a few pedal strokes you can enjoy the snow-covered landscapes of the Vercors.

If you want to do more without getting tired, borrow an electric mountain bike! It’s the perfect way to explore the trails in a different way. The climbs are less steep (and we’re not going to complain) and there’s nothing special about the descent apart from the thrill of it.

Take the plunge

After an outdoor activity or a good meal, we never say no to a bit of relaxation in the warmth.
And what could be more satisfying than getting out your best swimming costume in the middle of winter?
At the Villard de Lans aquatic centre, it’s just like the pool, only more fun: play in the waves (yes, real waves) every hour and slide down the curving slide.

The added bonus of the pool in winter ❄️: watch the frozen outdoor scenery from the large pool!

Read the programme of events

Because Villard – Corrençon is known as a lively and animated destination, we have a reputation to live up to!
So make sure you follow the schedule and, above all, the programme of events and activities. This little booklet will be your bedside book during your stay.

During the holidays, the Tourist Office entertainment teams will be on hand every day to offer you a range of activities (and that’s saying something!). Aimed mainly at families and children, adults will quickly get into the swing of things!
You can also find out about all the workshops, games and introductory courses on offer by local players.
