World record

The biggest wheel of Bleu du Vercors-Sassenage PDO is at Villard de Lans-Corrençon en Vercors!

In an unprecedented cheese-making feat, Villard de Lans and Corrençon en Vercors have just made history by welcoming the largest wheel of Bleu du Vercors-Sassenage PDO ever recorded. An event that celebrates local know-how and the richness of the terroir.

It was with palpable pride that the dairy cooperative announced a world record this morning: the creation of a wheel of Bleu du Vercors-Sassenage PDO cheese of exceptional dimensions.
Imagine a disc of cheese weighing 45 kg (the equivalent of 10 traditional wheels), proudly displaying its 1.5 metre diameter. A veritable cheese behemoth, the result of hard work and boundless passion.

“This record is testimony to the excellence of our producers and the quality of our milk. We wanted to push back the limits of our know-how, and the result exceeds our expectations.

Sandrine, Master Cheesemaker, project participant.

This extraordinary cheese was matured for 120 days, a meticulous process designed to develop new aromas. “Every day, we made sure that our cheese breathed the pure air of the Vercors, soaking up its very essence,” confides Jean-Pierre Durand, master cheesemaker.

🎉 To celebrate this unique event, come and admire this record-breaking wheel of cheese, meet the producers and taste this Vercors treasure.
The good news: the entertainment department (José and Baptiste) at Villard Tourist Office invites you to a giant Vercouline.
