The famous Bleu du Vercors/Sassenage cheese

Made in our region for over 600 years, Bleu du Vercors/Sassenage is one of our proudest local products. The recipe was revived in the 1990s by a dozen or so producers to give it the characteristic taste of local blue cheese: mild, creamy and with a slight hazelnut flavour.
This hand-moulded AOP (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) cheese is made from the milk of specific breeds of cow: Abondance, Montbéliarde and Villarde.

All that’s left to do is enjoy it!

Fario trout

To continue tasting local products, discover Vercors farmed or wild trout. They can be eaten fresh, filleted or smoked.

5 fish farms have been awarded the trout, brook salmon and Arctic char mark, a product of the Vercors Nature Park.

The ponds are supplied exclusively with water from the Vercors massif. These fish farmers have complied with a quality charter introduced by the Park in 2008, which guarantees quality products that respect the Park’s territory, people and environment.

The Grenoble walnut

The famous Grenoble walnut is highly reputed both in France and abroad. The climate around Grenoble is conducive to quality walnut production (windy, cool and wet in autumn). 3 local varieties are produced: Franquette (the best known), Mayenne and Parisienne. Grenoble walnuts were one of the first AOC walnuts in France (1938), and are highly prized for their slightly nutty, buttery taste.

Not far from here, further south, Clairette is in the limelight! The best known and oldest of all the Diois AOCs (1942). For some years now, Clairette de Die has shared its prestige with three other AOC wines: Crémant de Die, Côteaux du Diois and Châtillon-en-Diois.
