Come and take part in ,or cheer on the competitors in ,the Vercors soapbox race – the Vertaco Race– through the narrow streets of Villard de Lans town centre!
A race through the heart of the village, stretching over 550 metres!
Drivers speed down the track during the 4th edition of Vertaco Race, a renowned soapbox car racing event.
Programme for the 2026 edition
Non-stop, over the two days
Soapbox races and demonstrations: speed, jumps, obstacles and plenty of fun on the programme!
Entertainment (music, video game tournaments, children’s activities, etc.) all day long.
Saturday 4 July
10.00 am – 12.00 pm: First trials and tests of the soapbox cars. Free driving.
11.00 am and 4.00 pm: Balance bike race for children aged 2 to 5
Open to all children. Bring your own balance bike and come and take on the challenge on a timed course!
2.00 pm – 6.00 pm: Start of the race and the first timed trials. Qualifying round. Free practice.
8.30 pm: Concert on Place de la Libération featuring the band Burning Bananas
Sunday 5 July
10.00 am – 12.00 pm: Soapbox races and free riding.
11.00 am: Balance bike race for children aged 2 to 5
Open to all children. Bring your own balance bike and come and take on the challenge on a timed course!
11.30 am – 12 noon: Free downhill runs in any vehicle!
Bring whatever you’ve got! Register on the day and make a donation to the charity
2.00 pm – 4.00 pm: Race final and timed trials.
5.00 pm: Prize-giving
Entertainment all weekend:
All day: VR remote-controlled car entertainment.
Prices and access
The race takes place in the centre of the village of Villard de Lans, between Place de la Libération and the Joy hotel and restaurant. Freeentry for spectatorsand open to all.

• Do not smoke near the hay bales
• Do not sit on or climb onto the hay bales
• Stay within the safety zones
• Cross the road only at pedestrian crossings
• Please sort your rubbish correctly
