It’s summertime, and what better way to celebrate the beauty and traditions of our mountains than with a day out in the fresh air?
Our not-to-be-missed Fête de la Montagne is back on 15 August. Come and have fun with family and friends in the heart of the Vercors mountains.

Programme 2025

Opening of the Cote 2000 and Pré des Preys gondolas from 9am to 5pm: unlimited access day pass at €12.

All day long ☀️
  • New for 2025: Paddle initiation on the lake,
  • Sheepdog demonstration,
  • Alphorn demonstration,
  • Woodcarving demonstration,
  • Treasure hunt,
  • Fly fishing demonstration on the lake,
  • Woodcutting demonstration and competition,
  • Building a birdhouse or creating something out of wood
  • Guided walks with Pied Vert guides (discovering the nature of the Vercors).
  • Introduction to biathlon shooting with a laser rifle by the Villard de Lans ESF.

Highlights 🎉

  • 10.30am / 1.30pm / 4.15pm: Sheepdog demonstration
  • 10am to 4.45pm: Paddle initiation on the Pré des Preys lake. 45-minute session, €5 per person
  • 10am to 4pm: Making birdhouses and wood creations. 15€/workshop
  • 10am / 4pm: Lumberjack competition, come and challenge the stopwatch!
  • 11am / 2pm: Introduction to the Alphorn
  • 12 noon to 4pm: Introduction to biathlon shooting with a laser rifle by the ESF of Villard de Lans
  • 2.30pm: Accompanied walk by Pied Vert on the theme of nature in the Vercors (registration required/€10 per person)
  • 3pm: “éclat de vie” show by the Circlip company
  • Brass and percussionists from the Lyon Chamber Orchestra will be present: 3pm at Altitude 2000 / 4pm at Pré des Preys / 5pm at the foot of the cable car.

  • 8.30pm: Golden Fever concert
  • 10pm: Fireworks display
  • 10.30pm: Concert resumes

Prices and access
The mountain festival takes place on the banks of the Pré des Preys lake.
Access via the Pré des Preys or Cote 2000 gondola (15-20min walk): day rate with unlimited access €12.
Tombola ticket = €2
Building a birdhouse or creating something out of wood = €15
Paddle initiation = €5 per session

Catering on site

A local menu is available from the Cuisine & Passion association on reservation

  • Fresh home-made vegetable macedoine and mimosa egg,
  • Farm poultry supreme with forest juice and creamy polenta,
  • Fromage blanc with raspberry coulis or blueberry tart.

Price: €20

To be collected from the Cuisine & Passion stand.
Payment to be made to the Villard de Lans Tourist Office by cheque or cash before 12 noon on 13 August.

FAQ
  • How do I get to the Pré des Preys lake? 💧

    There are two gondolas open for access to the Fête de la montagne.

    • The most direct is the Pré des Preys gondola, which will take you directly to the festival.
    • If you want to stretch your legs, you can take the Cote 2000 gondola and walk back down to the lake. It’s a 15-20 minute walk.
    • For the more adventurous, you can walk up to the lake from Cote 2000. Allow 1 hour’s walk.

    Cable car fare: €12 unlimited.

  • Where to eat? 🍽️

    The Cuisine & Passion association will be servinga local menuon reservation:

    • Fresh home-made vegetable macedoine and mimosa egg,
    • Farmhouse poultry supreme with forest juice and creamy polenta,
    • Fromage blanc with raspberry coulis or blueberry tart.
